National Assembly President Says Korea Contributes to Peace and Development in Cambodia

PHNOM PENH: The President of the National Assembly of Cambodia, Heng Samrin, has stated that the Republic of Korea has made a significant contribution to the pursuit of peace and development in Cambodia through the provision of grants and loans, concessions, infrastructure development and cooperation in many important sectors.

National Assembly President Heng Samrin made this statement during a meeting with the new Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Cambodia, Park Jung-wook, at the National Assembly building on Monday morning, 6 March 2023.

Ambassador Park Jung-wook thanked the National Assembly President for allowing him to pay a courtesy visit and expressed his appreciation for all the progress Cambodia has made in several fields.

The President of the National Assembly confirmed that the two countries have had diplomatic relations for more than two decades. He added that the National Assembly appreciates and supports the good cooperation Cambodia has with the government of the Republic of Korea, which has brought good benefits, progress and prosperity to both nations. Both Cambodia and the Republic of Korea share a common vision of promoting relations and cooperation between the two countries to the level of a strategic partnership.

National Assembly President Heng Samrin also said that the respective national assemblies of the two countries have actively contributed to the promotion of cooperation between the two governments, through the sharing of experiences on legislative work, the exchange of visits between leaders and expert committees of both parliaments, and the support shared on both regional and global inter-parliamentary forums.

The President of the National Assembly hopes that Ambassador Park Jung-wook will continue to strengthen and expand cooperation in all fields during his diplomatic mission in Cambodia.
